Mr. Lancop is a seasoned competition law and policy expert with extensive experience in antitrust and regulatory matters. Mr. Lancop has provided expert assistance to numerous competition authorities across the globe, including capacity building, operational support, drafting legislation & enforcement guidelines, and training judges and legislators.
Before his consulting career, Mr. Lancop spent 35 years at the Canadian Competition Bureau (CB) where he led several landmark mergers, abuse of dominance, price maintenance & bid-rigging cases. As head of CB’s Legislative Development Branch, Mr. Lancop played a key role in seeing through significant amendments to the Canadian Competition Law. While leading CB’s Mergers Branch, Mr. Lancop negotiated numerous merger settlements and played an instrumental role in revising the merger, merger notification guidelines and merger remedies bulletin.
Mr. Lancop has testified on many occasions before Parliamentary Committees and Regulatory bodies, leading to key changes in Canadian Competition Law and related laws and policies.
